I also do private pay, as an out-of-network provider. I also offer a sliding scale for folks. Your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost if you do a full cost out of pocket.

  • There are a few ways to find out how much your insurance will cover for out-of-network services.

    1. Use the Nirvana Calculator https://calculator.meetnirvana.com/

    2. Look for Out-of-Network benefits section for mental health services on your insurance benefit document.

    3. Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card, and ask the agent about your out-of-network benefits using the CPT number (90837).

    • Does my plan cover out-of-network providers?

    • Do my benefits cover telehealth/online therapy services?

    • Does my deductible apply to mental health counseling? If so, what is my out-of-network deductible and have I met it yet this year?

    • Do I have a restricted number of visits per year for mental health counseling? If yes, how many visits?

    • Will you cover services by an associate-level clinician?

    • What is the out-of-network reimbursement rate for the CPT code 90837?
